One of the great things about working for Crown is that our staff are actively encouraged to ‘give back’ to their local communities. Staff members in our 10 branches receive paid time off to participate and contribute to community projects. We regard assisting those in need a privilege and it’s something we are very passionate about.
In 2011 we chose The Salvation Army NZ as our community partner of choice. They’ve become a household name due to their counselling, emergency help and community services to over 120,000 New Zealanders every year. What’s really incredible is ‘the people’s army’ is funded by donations, fundraising, grants and public funding. The work they do is truly amazing, and partnering with The Salvation Army is the perfect fit.
In association with large scale fundraising projects our staff and customers ‘on the move’ annually donate over 4000 priority cartons of foodstuff and other items to the Sallies’ foodbanks and family stores. We are planning a big celebration when we hit the 30,000 mark!
Crown are honoured to have been presented with a Salvation Army ‘Valued Partner’ award in recognition of our work together. We’re proud to be one of only five companies to have received this award since the Sallies arrived in New Zealand in 1883.
