Palmerston North is to be found in the Manawatu region of the central North Island, the city is nestled on the banks of the Manawatu River and is overlooked by the Tararua mountain range. It’s New Zealand's seventh largest city with an estimated population of 82,400. There are a number of tertiary educational organisations based in the city, the most well-known is Massey University, which means the city has a vibrant student population.
The city’s geographical position means that it no more than a few hours drive from wineries of Hawke’s Bay, the Central Plateau ski-fields, Taranaki and Wellington.
