Whangarei is to be found towards the top of the north island, and is the northern-most city in New Zealand and the regional capital of the Northland Region. The area is blessed with a magnificent choice of beaches, coastline and off-shore islands. The city also serves as the gateway to New Zealand’s Far North and the Bay of Islands, and is a region with an extensive wine-making history, the first vines were planted in Kerikeri in 1819.
