Permanent Skilled Migration

Under the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) points are awarded primarily for a person's:
Age
Education and/or qualifications
Work experience
An offer of skilled employment from a New Zealand employer
Bonus points are available to those with job offers outside of Auckland, in areas of acute skill shortages and future growth areas. Extra points can also be gained through a spouse's qualifications, New Zealand work experience and New Zealand qualifications.

The Skilled Migrant Category process offers two main pathways to permanent residence. There is also a third - "Work to Residence", which applies to those employed by an Immigration New Zealand "accredited" employer, with a salary of NZ$55,000 or more

There are three stages to a Skilled Migrant Category Visa

Stage two – The Invitation to Apply
Stage three – verification and approval
