Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
A message to all customers, service partners and suppliers
At midnight on March the 25th New Zealand is moving to COVID-19 alert level 4.
Over the last 24 hours we have reviewed Crown’s position and made the decision that Crown Relocations and Crown Workspace Services cannot be considered essential services. The government have asked residential housing landlords to keep their tenants in place and advised home sellers and buyers to work together and postpone their settlement days. The intent is clearly to keep everybody at home and restrict movement. If our services were considered ‘essential’ we have been struggling to see how we can keep our staff and customers safe, during the course of a relocation.
We therefore advise that In the interest of staff and public safety we are closing the operational side of our Household Moving and Workspace Services businesses from March 26th. This gives us a small window to do everything possible for our customers who have booked their relocations with us. During the lockdown there may be instances when we are required to complete operations in the interests of the government. These will be reviewed on a case by case basis under strict safety protocols.
Over the COVID – 19 lockdown period we will maintain all normal communication channels for customers, service partners and staff. We will still be providing quotations and booking jobs in our operational diaries (for after the lockdown period). For those who want firm quotations we will be conducting video – WIFI surveys, not physical home visits. Your surveys will be conducted by our trained New Zealand staff. If you have an existing booking (with Crown) please call your Customer Relations Manager or Co-ordinator to discuss your situation. It could be that this can be rescheduled.
We would like to assure all customer and service partners that this decision has not been taken lightly. We will be doing the right thing by going into ‘lock down’ where the focus will be on the safety of our staff, families and customers. Behind the scenes we have a fully complement of staff (primarily working from home) to maintain all lines of communication and be ready to go, when it’s safe to resume business.
