Sallies Mega Pop-Up Store

Over the past few months, the Crown Wellington team have been working on a major project with The Salvation Army. At our Seaview premises, we had gathered an entire warehouse full of thousands and thousands of donated items in anticipation of a ‘Salvation Army Mega Pop-Up Store’.

Bringing it together

It all came together over the weekend of May 18th – 19th, when the Crown warehouse became the venue for thousands of bargain hunters, who were on an intensive search-and-destroy mission. Our Crown staff were right at the forefront, working closely with the Sallie volunteers and dealing with queues that were five and six deep right through the warehouse.

Over the two-day sale, we raised an incredible amount of money, well in excess of the $25,000 that we hoped for.

Behind the scenes

The hard work was all done during the two month period prior to the event. Led by Steve Edmonds our Wellington Regional Manager; who has put in hundreds of hours in the evenings and weekends, sorting through the mountain of goods that were donated for sale. They worked side by side with the Sallies own volunteer army so it was a huge team effort. It wasn’t only our staff, they roped in their families, extended families and whanau to ensure the event was a huge success.

We love ‘Giving Back’

Over the years we have put together some great fundraisers with the Sallies. This one is right up there at the top of the pile. It is humbling to see how generous and selfless our Wellington team have been, not just on the weekend but for the months leading up to the event. The money raised will be used to support the Sallie’s Transitional Housing Programme, a programme designed for those who have been down on their luck and in desperate need of shelter.

I can only say that it is a pleasure to work with such a great team, congratulations to everyone involved and particularly Steve Edmonds, our leader.

“We’d like to thank everyone who came and supported our  pop-up mega Family Store in Wellington over the weekend! $25,000 was raised for our emergency housing support in the Wellington region!

We couldn’t have done it by ourselves so we’d like to thank Crown Relocations, The Hits and most of all, you, the thousands of valued customers who came over the weekend! We’re sure you bagged yourselves a bargain, ate too much liquorice, enjoyed the free coffee and sausage sizzle!!”
