The Department of Corrections (DOC) is the largest Public Service department in New Zealand. They manage over 10,000 people in New Zealand prisons and 30,000 offenders in the wider community each week.

Leading The Project

For a relocation project of this scale, we drew on the skills of our specialist teams from Crown FIL, who ensured a smooth move for DOC with minimum disruption.

Heading the project was Tama-Renata – Key Account Move Manager assisted by James Lam Sam – Senior Team Leader, Chris Rowe – Operations Manager and Chevy Coaked – Team Leader.

Getting Underway

Crown FIL had to complete the relocation within one week, including disconnecting, packing, reconnection and cable management for over 1,000 computer kits.

Each staff member was allocated a personal locker box for the move, which was then placed in designated zones at the new location.

IT assets, a library collection and over 1600 power cables were installed to workstations ready for staff to begin work Monday morning.

In addition to the staff’s contents and IT assets, a precious Taonga, created by inmates, needed to be packed, uplifted and carefully installed into Mayfair House, while observing cultural protocols during its entire relocation journey.

Crown FIL also responded to a last-minute request and assisted with preparing two floors of Freyberg House for the incoming tenant.
