BikeNZ is the national sporting organisation that embraces and represents all national bike and cycling organisations. When they decided to centralise their operations to their new world class home of cycling excellence in Cambridge. BikeNZ tasked Crown Relocations with the challenge of relocating 30 staff, their families and equipment from all over New Zealand to Cambridge.
With over 25% of our population involved in cycling at some level it’s obvious that Kiwis have a passion for the pedals. Whether it’s track and road cycling, mountain biking or BMX riding there is unprecedented interest in all facets of cycling. It can’t hurt that we have so many world class performers and world champions inspiring us to participate at all levels.
“We faced considerable challenges in planning and executing the relocation as BikeNZ staff and assets were located all over New Zealand from Auckland to Invercargill and all places in between. To ensure the relocation process went smoothly BikeNZ were seeking a service provider that not only knew its business, but also could understand our business and all the challenges that existed” Jason Watkins, BikeNZ
It all started in 2012 with a chance phone call from BikeNZ to Crown. They were budgeting for this ambitious project and wanted an idea of relocation costs. Crown’s Corporate Services Manager Brad Kingswood was soon in contact and being a big cycling fan he quickly became the key contact person within Crown. Brad specialises in the planning and execution of these project types. His first job was to take the pressure off the BikeNZ team and let them get on with their day to day business while he looked after their relocation needs.
“They took the work away from me so I could focus on my core tasks; the value of a dedicated Account Manager cannot be overstated.” Jason Watkins, BikeNZ
The physical relocation of the 30 families and their personal effects got underway in December 2012 and Crown were soon called in to assist with 3 major office moves as facilities were closed in Auckland, Wellington and Invercargill. Not only did the office contents all get delivered to Cambridge there were several million dollars worth of fragile bikes and other specialised cycling equipment. Crown’s Hamilton Branch managed the delivery end of all relocations and also provided secure storage for all of the equipment.
“As we all know talk is cheap, but I can honestly say that Crown has “walked the walk” and have delivered time and again over the last 12 months. We have been made to feel like a valued client and this sense of ‘partnership’ is projected right through the Crown organisation, so it doesn’t matter who you are dealing with we have had consistent service of the highest level.” Jason Watkins, BikeNZ
Congratulations to BikeNZ for their seamless relocation of so many key personnel and assets to their new work class facility. Crown are proud to have played our part as a key support player.
