Crown New Zealand’s ‘Go Enviral’ Challenge

“This project will allow students to show their creativity and take a hands-on approach to learning about the environment. “ James  Logan, Country Manager, Crown Worldwide (NZ) Ltd.

What is the ‘Go Enviral’ Challenge?

This Primary School ‘Go Enviral’ Challenge is an eco-learning opportunity for tomorrow’s generation.

Why we initiate environmental programmes each year

At Crown we love being green. We are passionate supporters of Keep New Zealand Beautiful and have recently completed a three year native tree planting project with Living Legends. Within our relocations business we annually take 5000 truck journeys a year off New Zealand roads by using the rail network. Each of our 10 branches has a Destination Green committee to promote sustainable practices in the workplace. We love being green!

“We don’t live in a vacuum — we work in a world that is interconnected. To thrive, our communities must be healthy — environmentally, socially and financially”.  Jennifer Harvey, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Crown Worldwide Group.

What are the Details?

We are inviting primary schools from all over NZ to join the challenge! All your school has to do is design an environmental project to the value of $4,000. The challenge is for the students to then produce a 90 second ‘YouTube’ video explaining their project and how they will spend the money. The winning challenge will receive $4,000 to complete their project.

Project ideas can include new plantings of native trees and shrubs, restoration of school bush areas, new garden areas, special corners for wild life and native birds or general cleaning and beautification. The winner will be judged on originality, the sustainability of the   project and the impact on the school and environment. Enrolments will be accepted until 5pm on Friday the 14th of November 2014.

How to be Involved

Once enrolled the school or class can send their video to Crown at [email protected]. Selected videos will be posted on Crown’s Facebook page.  On the 18th of November an independent panel will choose 3 finalists. The 3 final videos will then be posted on Crown’s Facebook page.

The winner will be selected by public voting on Facebook. Voting lines will be open until the 26th of November and the project with the most votes will win! Crown will announce the winner of the ‘Go Enviral’ Challenge.

Please register your schools interest by sending an email to Olga at [email protected] or please call 09 415 7300 if you need more information.

Thank you for taking part in the ‘Go Enviral’ Challenge.
